British Airways restarts Joburg, Harare flights – while kulula now flies from Lanseria

British Airways restarts Joburg After emerging from business rescue at the end of last year, Comair continues to expand its routes.

On Monday, it announced that it will restart British Airways flights between Harare and Johannesburg, for less than R1,000 per seat.

Its cut-price airline kulula.com will also resume flights from Lanseria.

Comair-operated British Airways is resuming daily flights between Johannesburg and

Harare, while Comair’s Kulula has announced that is flying from Lanseria again.

Comair emerged from business rescue towards the end of the year with a limited flight

schedule. Part of its “seven-month ramp-up period” includes the full return of its 25-

strong fleet of planes, increasing flight frequencies, and adding new routes.

On Monday, it announced that it will now fly between Johannesburg and Harare, with one-way fares starting from R995, including taxes and surcharges.

The first flights is due to depart on 28 March, and bookings open this week.

Currently, Airlink is the only airline that operates flights between Johannesburg and Harare. While Zimbabwe’s airports are open for travel, its land borders remain closed.

British Airways’ popular direct route to the UK remains suspended due to coronavirus-related travel restrictions.

Comair also announced that Kulula will restart its operations at Lanseria from the start of April.

It will fly between Lanseria and Cape Town, and Lanseria and Durban. Currently FlySafair is the only major scheduled airline that services the Gauteng airport.

Earlier this month, Comair added 20 weekly flights to its schedule – including to East London from OR Tambo in Johannesburg and Cape Town, at reduced rates.
