Iconic SA actress Candy Moloi has died
In a joint statement released on Wednesday, Muvhango and production company Word of Mouth paid tribute to Candy who was one of the original cast members of the SABC 2 soap.
“It is with great sadness that Word of Mouth Pictures and the Muvhango family have learned of the passing of a legend, Candy (Mokondeleli) Moloi,” the statement reads.
“Mme Candy played the original vho-Makhadzi in Muvhango and was one of the original cast members who started with the production when it premiered in 1997. Her daughter, Lerato Moloi, also featured in Muvhango as Refilwe, uncle Tshepo’s daughter!”
Tributes for Candy have streamed in on social media, with many remembering the star’s iconic Muvhango persona.
“We will remember her for the role she played as Vho Makhadzi in Muvhango and others.
“She was a mentor to many actors and actresses. A business woman and founder of advertising agency, Candymol productions.
“Funeral arrangements will be announced soon. Covid-19 funeral protocols will be adhered to.”
Moloi starred in shows such as Death of a Queen, Giyani – Land of Blood and Thola.
